Classic Sofa Production Information

Features

Classic Sofa is proud to report that all of its furniture is made in America by American citizens.

All furniture frames are constructed by hand of kiln-dried hard wood and are glued and screwed at all key joints.

Classic sofa uses a 10 gauge steel serpentine spring system that is permanently attached to the frame. Springs are then hand-tied together. This system allows Classic Sofa to offer their life time warranty.

All seat cushions, unless otherwise specified, are 25/75 combination of down and feathers over a high density poly foam core. We offer three
different softness of foam, soft, medium, firm. Unless specified, we will construct the furniture with a medium foam core.

Loose back cushions are filled 100% with goose feather and down. The cushion inserts are channeled to keep the feathers and down evenly distributed.

Skirts on the furniture are lined. No buckram is used unless requested.

Slipcovers must be dry cleaned, not machine washed.

Sectionals

Classic Sofa has been making Sectional Sofas for as long as it has been in business. Sectionals have been used by designers and architects for years to solve numbers of different interior problems. We are happy to offer these furniture pieces directly to you. Most of the sectionals we make are straight forward, two piece, “L” Shape. However, even with a straight forward “L” shape, careful measurement is crucial, because we are dealing with large pieces of furniture and we don’t want to build them too big or too small.

Diagram “A” is a usual layout for a two piece sectional. The pieces would be joined together at the “break.” The two sections can be very different in size, and they can be positioned in a layout that is the mirror image of Diagram “A”. And there are many more layout and size options. And many more detail options, e.g. we could attach a chaise, install a pull out bed (Double or Queen size), change size and style of the arms, make it completely armless, use a corner piece, change the style of the sectional, add any sort of trim. Note that any time a bed is used in a sofa, when it is pulled out and set up for sleeping, it extends 95” from the wall or from the back of the sofa section that houses it.
Sectionals

When designing a bed into a sectional, remember the bed mechanism and mattress make up part of the seating, therefor the section containing them will have a slightly different feel than the rest of the sectional where the seating cavity is made up of springs. A folded mattress and mechanism is much heavier, stronger, and a bit firmer than any traditional spring cavity, thus there are pros and cons to consider when specifying any sectional with or without a bed.

Classic Sofa can take any of their sofa designs and make a sectional. Because making a sectional is more complex than making a sofa; we recommend discussing the design procedure with one of our knowledgeable sales people. Careful measurement of your space with all of its door openings and windows; and projected measurement of the finished sectional that you desire, is crucial. A detailed floorplan, or at least a rough drawing of the room and orientation of the pieces can be extremely useful. We suggest that you make a paper template of the sectional that you have in mind, lay the template out on the floor of the desired space and see how it fits in the room and the traffic patterns.

Classic Sofa requires a detailed description and a sample of the C.O.M. fabric to be applied. In the absence of a full cut sample, please provide the width of the fabric as well as the vertical and horizontal repeat of any pattern, if there is any. Providing information on the type of fabric, it’s content and applied direction can also help us avoid many costly mistakes; like ordering too much or too little fabric, not having the proper backing or simply to address any unforeseen issues regarding application, matching etc.
